Baguio City and Benguet to Experience 12-Hour Brownout on Tuesday (April 23)

Most of Baguio City and Benguet will experience a 12-hour brownout on Tuesday (April 23) according to a "notice of power interruption" released by the Benguet Electric Cooperative Inc. or BENECO. The cooperative announced the scheduled blackout on Wednesday (April 17).

The power interruption will affect the whole of Baguio City and Benguet with just a few exempted areas. The interruption will run from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. However, BENECO clarified that the brownout was scheduled by the NGCP (National Grid Corporation of the Philippines) and not by BENECO itself.

The NGCP cited the following as the reasons for the scheduled power interruption:

1. Preventive maintenance and testing of the La Trinidad SS 300MVA Power Transformer No.1 and associated Feeders.

2. Corrective and preventive maintenance along La Trinidad-Sagada 69kV Line and La Trinidad-Sablan 69kV Line.

3. Correction of defects at La Trinidad Substation

4. Shifting of power source of Mankayan-Sagada 69kV Line Segment from La Trinidad-Mankayan(LI)/ Sagada 69kV Transmission Line to La Trinidad-Mankayan(L2)/ Lepanto 69kV Transmission Line in preparation for the implementation of re-routing works at Tower Nos. A & B along the La Trinidad-Mankayan 69kV Line. La Trinidad- Mankayan(L1)/Sagada 69KV Transmission Line will be de-energized from Tower No.74 to 139 only.


Areas affected by the scheduled power interruption are as follows:
1. Whole of Baguio City except Pacdal, Mines View Park, Gibraltar, Pucsusan, Lualhati Village, Outlook Drive, Lucnab, Country CLub Village, South Drive, parts of Cabinet Hill-Teachers Camp (near and along South Drive), Happy Hallow, DPS Compound, Greenwater Village, Military Cut-Off, Sta. Scholastica, Scout Barrio, Upper Dagsian, Lower Dagsian, Hillside, Gabriela Silang, Camp 7, Camp 8, Poliwes, San Vicente, Balsigan, Kias, Loakan Liwanag, Loakan Proper, Loakan Pidawan, Bubon, EPZA, Pinesville, PMA Fort Del Pilar, Atok Trail, Loakan Magsaysay, Loakan Apugan, Springhills, Kadaclan Village, VOA, DENR area.

BENECO Notice Of Scheduled Power Interruptions From August 14 To 19

Parts of Baguio City, La Trinidad, Tublay, Tuba, Buguias, and Bakun will experience electrical power interruptions in the coming week. In particular, the whole town of Bakun (except barangay Kayapa) will have no power on August 19 (Saturday) from 9:00 in the morning to 5:00 in the afternoon. 12-Hour Brownout To Hit Several Towns Of Benguet On May 31 (Tuesday)

Eight towns in Benguet will be affected by a scheduled power interruption by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on May 31, a Tuesday. In a public advisory served by the Benguet Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BENECO), the towns of Atok, Kapangan, Kibungan, Bokod, Kabayan, Buguias, Bakun (except Kayapa Proper), and Mankayan will have no electric power from 6 am to 6 pm on said date.

During the brownout, the following maintenance activities will be implemented: tapping of new disconnect switches along the La Trinidad-Mankayan 69kV lines, replacement of rotten poles and crossarms, and correction of other defects.

2-Hour Brownout To Hit Baguio City And La Trinidad On January 26 (Tuesday)

Nearly all of Baguio City and La Trinidad will have a two-hour power interruption on January 26 (Tuesday). In an advisory released by the Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO), Baguio City and the nearby town of La Trinidad will have a brownout from 12 noon to 2 PM. According to the electric cooperative, the power interruption will enable them to load a new 50MVA power transformer. Also affected by the scheduled power interruption are Triple B Sablan Poblacion Tuba, Badiwan Poyopoy, Bejajeng, Taloy Norte, Taloy Sur, and Tublay Proper.

12-Hour Brownout To Hit Baguio City And La Trinidad On January 19 (Tuesday)

Charge your phones. Stack up on batteries. Make sure that your electric generator is in working condition. In a public advisory, the Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) has announced that Baguio City, La Trinidad, and Tublay Proper will be experiencing a 12-hour power interruption on January 19 (Tuesday) from six in the morning to six in the afternoon. In the advisory, BENECO cited the energization of a new power transformer and the upgrading of electric poles as the reasons for the 12-hour power interruption.

The whole of Baguio City, La Trinidad, and Tublay Proper will be affected by the scheduled brownout except the following areas:

Parts Of Baguio City And Benguet To Experience 12-Hour Brownout On November 10

Time to charge your phones, stock up on batteries, or get your generators ready. The Benguet Electric Cooperative has announced that there will be a 12-hour brownout tomorrow (November 10, Tuesday) for the whole of Baguio City, La Trinidad, and Tublay proper.

According to the electric cooperative, the power interruption will run from 6 am to 6 pm. This is so that they can work on decommissioning a power transformer and updating several primary poles along backbone lines.

According to the power interruption schedule listed on BENECO's website, the whole of Baguio City, La Trinidad, and Tublay proper will be affected except the areas listed below.

Large Parts Of Baguio City And Benguet To Experience 12-Hour Brownout On August 28

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has served a notice of a scheduled shutdown of some of its transmission lines located within Baguio City and Benguet. As a result of these shutdowns, large parts of Baguio City and Benguet will experience a 12-hour power interruption on August 28 (Friday). The interruption will be from 6 am to 6 pm.

Those that will be affected by the power interruption are as follows:
1) The whole of Atok, Tublay, Kapangan, Kibungan, Bokod, Kabayan, Bakun, Buguias, and Mankayan.
2) The whole of La Trinidad except Upper Ambiong.
3) The whole of Baguio City except the following areas: Ambuklao Road portion, APTS, Sim-sim Compound, Regidor st., Maria Basa, Liteng, Pacdal Circle, Sispno Road, Botanical Garden, Pucsusan, Tavera St., Kneedler St., Poblete Extension, Johnhay, BCC, Country Club Village, Happy Hallow, Lamut, Marlboro Country, DZWT, GMA, RPN, DZBS, Lualhati, Felipe, Moran, Apostol, De Los Reyes, Europa, Modesta, Good Shepperd, Cuneta, Mines View Park areas, Gibraltar, Romulo Drive, Tuding road, Outlook Drive, Mary Hurst, Lucnab, Teachers Camp to Forbes Park DS, and  Balangabang.

Huge Parts Of Baguio City, La Trinidad, Sablan, And Tuba To Experience 2-Hour Brownout On July 10

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has served a notice of a scheduled shutdown of some of its transmission facilities in the province of Benguet. Due to this, large parts of Baguio City, La Trinidad, Sablan, and Tuba will experience a two-hour power interruption on Friday (July 10) from 8 am to 10 am.

The Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) divulged that the interruption will allow them to fix and replace damaged insulators that were struck by lightning last month. The areas to be affected by the two-hour power interruption are as follows:

1) The whole town of Sablan.
2) The whole town of La Trinidad except Beckel.
3) The whole of Tuba except Camp 4, Camp 3, Camp 1, Twin Peaks, Tabaan Norte, Tabaan Sur, and Ansagan.
4) The whole of Baguio City except parts of Pacdal, Teachers Camp, Gibraltar, Mines View, Pucsusan, Lualhati, Outlook Drive, South Drive, Country Club, Happy Hallow, Lucnab, Military Cut-Off, Green Water, Sta. Escolastica, Camp 8, BGH Compound, San Vicente, Poliwes, Gabriela Silang, Upper and Lower Dagsian, Scout Barrio, Loakan Proper, Loakan Liwanag, Camp 7, Apugan Loakan, Fort Del Pilar, Atok Trail, and Kias.
