The shooting incident occurred at sitio Pinagan, barangay Lucog in Tabuk. Mayor Edduba was quickly rushed to the Tabuk Provincial Hospital and was later transferred to the St. Paul Hospital in Tuguegarao City in the nearby province of Cagayan. He is now in stable condition.

According to Superintendent Davy Vicente Lim-mong, spokesperson for the Cordillera regional police, a task force called Special Investigation Task Group Edduba has been formed to cover the case.

This Wanted Sign in Mabini Street, Baguio City is Just Wrong
As the owner of any business enterprise, when looking for a new employee, you make sure that the wanted sign you put up attracts the right applicants. You can try to be funny by injecting a bit of humor into the sign. This is one way to attract eye traffic and attention.
This particular wanted sign put up by a department store along Mabini Street in Baguio City is probably trying to be funny but the one who've put it up doesn't realize that it's actually offensive.
We can brush off the "pangit" part. It's the "matanda" part that would make someone shake his/her head in disappointment. It's discrimination. It's the same as saying "Muslims need not apply." or "Ilocanos need not apply." or "Graduates of this (insert school) need not apply".

Main Suspect In Baguio Massacre Surrenders In Manila But Denies Committing The Crime
Philip Tolentino Avino, 31 years old, the person being tagged with the grisly murders of five people in Baguio City has surrendered in Cubao, Quezon City through Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno. In a post published on his official Facebook page, Moreno divulged the details surrounding Avino's surrender.
Avino approached his half-brother, PO3 Jeffrey Sta. Ana of the Quezon City police who in turn arranged for Avino's surrender by seeking the help of Manila Barangay 584 chairwoman Chit Tolentino who also happens to be the suspect's aunt. In coordination with Manila councilor DJ Bagatsing, Avino surrendered to Moreno in Cubao, Quezon City at around midnight.
However, Avino denies the allegations that he was behind the murders in Baguio City. He claims that he was on a bus heading to Manila during the time that the massacre happened. He also claims that he is being framed for the crime.
On the afternoon of April 6 (Sunday), a man got inside an apartment in Kayang Street, Hilltop in Baguio City and stabbed to death five people, three of whom were children. A witness who was a former live-in partner of Avino linked the latter to the crime. After Avino was identified as the prime suspect, Baguio City Mauricio Domogan has offered a bounty of Php100,000 to anyone who can pinpoint the man's whereabouts.
In denying the crime, Avino will have to prove that he was indeed on a bus when the crime happened. Previous reports have stated that some items which belonged to him like a belt were found at the crime scene.
Avino will soon be turned over to the Baguio City Police which is in charge of the investigation into the case.

Suspect In Baguio City Massacre Identified, Police Manhunt Is Ongoing
The suspect in the gruesome massacre that happened last Sunday afternoon in Baguio City has been identified by the Baguio City Police through the help of an eyewitness. The suspect was identified as Philip Tolentino Avino. He's also known by the alias of Michael Geronimo. In the afternoon of April 6, Avino entered an apartment in the 4th floor of a building in Kayang Street, Hilltop and stabbed five people to their deaths. Three of the victims were children.
The authorities were able to identify Avino through the help of a witness who was also a former live-in partner of the suspect. The witness works in an eatery owned by the parents of two of the victims. Police investigation showed that the witness and Avino were in a romantic relationship but they broke up last Friday, which was just two days before the crimes were committed by Avino. This prompted Baguio City Police Office Director Rolando Miranda to declare that "The witness was the main target of the suspect as he was not amenable to their break-up."
The victims were identified as follows: Jackelyn Kale Marquez Nociete (19 years old), Joey Marquez Nociete Jr. (9 years old), Jonalyn Lozano, Dave John de Guzman (8 eight years old), and Raymund Del Mundo (8 years old). Jackelyn Kale was a student at Saint Louis University. Jonalyn was their househelp. Dave John and Raymund were playmates of Joey.
Php100,000 Bounty On Avino
Mauricio Domogan, mayor of Baguio City has offered a bounty of Php100,000 for anyone who can successfully pinpoint the whereabouts of Avino. A police manhunt is ongoing. If you have any information which can help in the operation, you can contact Senior Superintendent Rolando Miranda at his mobile phone number 09178281990. Miranda is the acting Director of the Baguio City Police Office.
Here's what we know so far about the incident:
1) Avino and the witness were former lovers. They broke up on Friday (April 4) which was just a few days before the crime was committed on Sunday (April 6). This seems to be the most probable motive behind the crime.
2) Due to the brutality of the attacks, the police is not discounting the possibility that Avino may have been under the influence of drugs when he attacked the victims. However, media reports on the incident contain no information as to whether Avino is a user of drugs or if he has a history of using.
3) Mental illness can also be a possibility. However, media reports on the incident contain no information as to whether Avino was ever diagnosed with a mental illness.
4) Avino was looking for Joey Nociete Sr., father of two of the victims before the attacks occurred. Was there a spat between Avino and Nociete Jr. in the past?

Baguio City Massacre Takes 5 Lives, 3 Of Whom Are Children
The City of Baguio is currently in a state of shock after news broke out that five people were killed on Sunday afternoon in an apartment along Kayang Street in Barangay Hilltop. According to the police, the brutal crime occurred between 3:30 and 6:30 in the afternoon of April 6 at the fourth floor of the Chan Building in Kayang Street.
It's still unknown if there's just one attacker or if there's several of them. Initial investigation by the police showed that the attacker/attackers simply barged into the apartment building and stabbed the victims for no apparent reason.
The victims were identified as follows:
Joey Marquez Nociete Jr., 8 years old, 14 stab wounds
Dave John de Guzman, 7 years old, 8 stab wounds
Raymund del Mundo, 8 years old, 8 stab wounds
Jackelyn Kale Marquez Nociete, 19 years old, 18 stab wounds
Jonalyn Lozano, a housemaid, 12 stab wounds
Although the police is still investigating as to the motive behind the crime, there's evidence that this is a planned attack, not one done at random. Vilma Nociete, the mother of two of the children who died, was quoted by investigators as saying that she received text messages from her daughter around 5 pm that there's a visitor looking for their father.
If the daughter has been sending such messages around 5 pm, then the crimes may have happened from 5 pm onward. This is contrary to what the police is saying wherein it may have happened between 3:30 and 6:30.
Also, it was also known that the victims have just transferred to the apartment building in Kayang Street. They've been there for just about a week. Police investigation on the incident is ongoing. It's also worth mentioning that the areas around Kayang Street and Hilltop are among the most crime-ridden places in the city.

Three major universities in Baguio City are shifting their school calendars from June to August
In the next four months, the City of Baguio is going to experience a significant decrease in its population as thousands of students leave for their home provinces or go for out-of-town vacations. This is because three of the city's major universities are moving their academic calendars. Classes will start in the month of August instead of June.
These universities are Saint Louis University, University of Baguio, and University of the Philippines Baguio. The most common reason cited by the universities for the shift is to synchronize their academic calendars with the rest of the world. Another reason if the fact that rains and typhoons are often at their strongest in the months of June and July. In moving the start of classes from June to August, students will be spared from having to deal with these rains and typhoons.
Other universities in the city like University of the Cordilleras and Baguio Central University haven't made any announcement if they are going to make the same move.

Rey Docyogen Added To The Undercard Of One Fighting Championship: Rise Of Heroes
One Fighting Championship has officially announced that Rey Docyogen (10-2-0) will be fighting in the undercard of ONE FC 15: Rise of Heroes which will be held on May 2 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila. The Team Lakay mixed martial artist will be facing Josh Alvarez (12-6-0) of Guam.
This is an interesting matchup as both fighters are coming off losses in the ONE FC. In his last two fights, both of which were in the ONE FC, Docyogen lost to Shinichi Kojima (February 2013) and Yasuhiro Urushitani (May 2013). Alvarez on the other hand lost to Koetsu Okazaki in December 2013 in his ONE FC debut.
Docyogen can strike and grapple. Proof of this is his 4 wins by knockout and another 4 wins by submission. Alvarez doesn't have the power of Docyogen but he seems to have the advantage if the fight goes to the ground. Nine of his twelve professional wins came via submissions. Needless to say, Docyogen significantly improves his chances of taking the victory if he turns this into a stand-up match.
Also in the fight card are two Team Lakay fighters. In the co-main event, Eduard Folayang (13-4-0) tussles with Kotetsu Boku (21-9-2) of Japan while Jujeath Nagaowa makes her MMA debut against India's Jeet Toshi (2-1-0).
