3 Team Lakay Fighters Are Set And Ready To Take On Their Opponents This December

Fans of mixed martial arts in the Philippines are in for a treat. One Fighting Championship, the leading MMA organization in Asia is staging another combat sports event in Manila at the Mall of Asia Arena on December 5. Six Filipino fighters have been tapped to showcase their skills in said event. Three of them are fighting under the Team Lakay banner.

Eduard Folayang looks to extend his two-fight winning streak when he welcomes Timofey Nastyukhin of Russia into the ONE FC. A winner of 7 of his 8 professional fights, Nastyukhin is an accomplished knockout and submission artist.

Kevin Belingon hopes to get back into the winning column by defeating Japan's Koetsu Okazaki. Belingon lost his last fight in the ONE FC to South Korea's Dae Hwan Kim via a rear-naked choke in the very first stanza. Okazaki on the other hand is currently on a two-fight winning streak in the ONE FC.

Honorio Banario who will be facing an undefeated fighter in Herbert Burns is seeking redemption after losing three fights in a row in the ONE FC. The former champion lost his belt to Koji Oishi of Japan in 2013. He failed to take the belt back in the rematch. Most recently, he lost to Jadamba Narantungalag of Mongolia in a close fight. The Mongolian currently reigns as the champion of the ONE FC's featherweight division after besting Oishi during a lopsided contest held in Dubai.

Also fighting in the card is the Cordillera-based Jujeath Nagaowa, a former professional boxer who debuted in the ONE FC last May. She knocked out her opponent in her impressive debut. For her second fight, she will be facing a much taller fighter in Tharoth Sam, a martial artist hailing from Cambodia.

Eduard Folayang And Jujeath Nagaowa Added To ONE FC 23: Warrior's Way Card

Two more Cordilleran mixed martial arts fighters have been added to the undercard of One Fighting Championship 23: Warrior's Way, a combat sports event scheduled to unfold at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila this coming December 5. The One Fighting Championship (ONE FC), the biggest MMA organization in Asia, has announced on Thursday that Eduard Folayang and Jujeath Nagaowa will be seeing action on said date.

Folayang (14-4-0) will be welcoming Timofey Nastyukhin (7-1-0) of Russia into the ONE FC. Based on the Russian fighter's record, he has both striking and grappling skills. Of his seven career victories, three came by knockout and four by submission. He fought four times this year alone and he won all of them either via submission or knockout.

Folayang is a ONE FC veteran, having fought six times under the company. Of these six fights, he won four and lost two. Folayang's most recent outing in the ONE FC was a dominant win over Japan's Kotetsu Boku last May. Prior to that, he cruised to a decision victory over Vincent Latoel of the Netherlands.

Nagaowa (1-0-0), a former professional boxer who transitioned into MMA last May, will be facing Tharoth Sam (2-0-0) of Cambodia. In her MMA debut in May of this year, Nagaowa knocked out Jeet Toshi of India in the second round. Her upcoming opponent, Sam, won her two MMA bouts via submission.

Watch The Highlights Of ONE FC: Rise Of Heroes (Video)

Here's a compilation of the highlights of ONE Fighting Championship's most recent event at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila. Dubbed Rise of Heroes, it was topbilled by Bibiano Fernandes of Brazil's successful defense of his bantamweight belt against Japan's Masakatsu Ueda.

Three Cordillera-based mixed martial artists also saw action in the undercard and they all came out with wins. Eduard Folayang and Rey Docyogen decisioned Kotetsu Boku and Josh Alvarez respectively. Female boxer Jujeath Nagaowa, on the other hand, finished Jeet Toshi in the second stanza.

Folayang imposed his will on his Japanese opponent utilizing his leg kicks as well as his wrestling. The Japanese fighter had his moments but Folayang landed the more meaningful shots. Docyogen engaged Alvarez in a striking match and eventually ended up being given the victory.

Eduard Folayang, Rey Docyogen, And Jujeath Nagaowa Emerge Victorious In ONE FC: Rise Of Heroes

Three Cordillera-based mixed martial artists emerged victorious last Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila when they fought in the ONE FC: Rise of Heroes event. Eduard Folayang and Rey Docyogen notched unanimous decision wins over their respective opponents. Meanwhile, female boxer Jujeath Nagaowa made an impressive MMA debut with a technical knockout win over her opponent.

Folayang fought Kotetsu Boku of Japan in the night's co-main event. Both fighters are known strikers but the Igorot fighter clearly has a huge advantage in wrestling and grappling which he used in effectively controlling the pace and direction of the bout. Highlights of the first round were Folayang's takedown of Boku and an arm bar attempt. The second round had Folayang displaying more of his wrestling skills as he took Boku down on several attempts. Boku had some moments in the round with some nasty ground and pound of his own. Folayang ended the round with a spinning wheel kick. The third round was a wild one with both fighters attacking in search for a knockout finish. Folayang delivered the more telling blows. He was awarded the unanimous decision victory.

Folayang's teammate Rey Docyogen was finally able to emerge a winner in the ONE FC ring after two consecutive losses last year. Aside from the rear naked choke which his opponent Josh Alvarez attempted in the first round, Docyogen imposed his will and dominated all the other exchanges. He out-grappled and out-struck Alvarez.

Jujeath Nagaowa, a boxer making her MMA debut, made a statement with a performance that made her transition from boxing to MMA seem easy. She used her boxing skills in the first round to keep her opponent at bay while collecting points and opening up chances for takedowns. She ended the bout in the second round through a barrage of punches which prompted the referee to step in and stop the fight.

Fil-Am boxer Ana Julaton also made her MMA debut in the card with a TKO win over Aya Saeid Saber. Other bouts in the event were Rob Lisita (W) vs. Yusuke Kawanago, James McSweeney (W) vs. Chris Lokteff, Leandro Ataides (W) vs. Tatsuya Mizuno, and Eugene Toquero (W) vs. Gianni Subba.

Watch A Preview Of The Upcoming Fight Between Eduard Folayang And Japan's Kotetsu Boku

ONE FC 15: Rise of Heroes is happening tomorrow night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila. Fighting in the co-main event is Team Lakay's Eduard Folayang. He will be squaring off against Kotetsu Boku, a fighter from Japan who shares Folayang's striking abilities. With that said, MMA fans will be expecting a stand-up affair. However, there's a chance that this fight will also go to the ground. And the fighter who is more likely to initiate this will be the Cordilleran fighter.

ONE FC, through their YouTube channel has released a short preview of the upcoming bout.  Here's a couple of quotes from the preview:

"I believe that everybody has a hero spirit within themselves. I'm doing all the abilities that I can to let the hero within me come out for this fight." - Eduard Folayang

"Manila is my opponent's home ground so I'm sure Folayang is all fired up, and the crowd is going to be great. I'm really looking forward to this match. There's a Japanese saying: Let your enemy cut your flesh so you can break his bones. I'll need to take some risks in this fight because I know I'm not be able to keep up with his pace." - Kotetsu Boku

Two other Cordillera-based mixed martial artists are also seeing action tomorrow night. The opening bout for the event will be between Cordilleran female boxer Jujeath Nagaowa (who is making her MMA debut) and India's Jeet Toshi. Rey Docyogen (also of Team Lakay) looks to redeem himself after losing two consecutive fights in the ONE FC last year. He will be fighting Josh Alvarez of Guam.

Kotetsu Boku, Folayang's opponent on fight night holds a record of 21-9-2. He has fought four times in the ONE FC winning two and losing the other two. He is a striker, having won 8 of his 21 victories via knockouts.

Eduard Folayang Versus Kotetsu Boku: A Breakdown Of The Match-Up

Jason Chambers, a commentator for One Fighting Championship breaks down the main event and co-main event of the organization's upcoming fight event to be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila in May 2. Dubbed Rise of Heroes, the fight card will be headlined by a championship battle between Bibiano Fernandez and Masakatsu Ueda.

The co-main event is a highly anticipated match-up between Team Lakay's Eduard Folayang and Japan's Kotetsu Boku. It's an interesting match-up as both fighters love to fight on their feet. We have previously written our own preview of the fight (click here to read it).

Watch below as ONE FC commentator Jason Chambers breaks down the two main fights. The segment on Folayang and Boku starts at the 1:27 mark. Also fighting in the undercard are two Team Lakay fighters. Rey Docyogen returns to face Josh Alvarez while Jujeath Nagaowa makes her MMA debut against India's Jeet Toshi.

Rey Docyogen Added To The Undercard Of One Fighting Championship: Rise Of Heroes

One Fighting Championship has officially announced that Rey Docyogen (10-2-0) will be fighting in the undercard of ONE FC 15: Rise of Heroes which will be held on May 2 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila. The Team Lakay mixed martial artist will be facing Josh Alvarez (12-6-0) of Guam.

This is an interesting matchup as both fighters are coming off losses in the ONE FC. In his last two fights, both of which were in the ONE FC, Docyogen lost to Shinichi Kojima (February 2013) and Yasuhiro Urushitani (May 2013). Alvarez on the other hand lost to Koetsu Okazaki in December 2013 in his ONE FC debut.

Docyogen can strike and grapple. Proof of this is his 4 wins by knockout and another 4 wins by submission. Alvarez doesn't have the power of Docyogen but he seems to have the advantage if the fight goes to the ground. Nine of his twelve professional wins came via submissions. Needless to say, Docyogen significantly improves his chances of taking the victory if he turns this into a stand-up match.

Also in the fight card are two Team Lakay fighters. In the co-main event, Eduard Folayang (13-4-0) tussles with Kotetsu Boku (21-9-2) of Japan while Jujeath Nagaowa makes her MMA debut against India's Jeet Toshi (2-1-0).

Eduard Folayang to fight Japanese ring veteran for ONE FC 15: Rise of Heroes

The man they call the "Landslide" is set to enter the cage yet again this coming May. Eduard Folayang, the poster boy of Philippine mixed martial arts will be on the undercard of ONE Fighting Championship: Rise of Heroes, a fight card scheduled to unfold at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila on May 2, 2014. It will be Folayang's sixth appearance for the burgeoning Singapore-based MMA promotional company. His current record under the ONE FC banner stands at three wins and two losses.

To share the cage with Folayang come May 2 is Kotetsu Boku, an older and much more experienced fighter from Japan. Boku sports a 21-9-2 fight record compared to Folayang's 13-4. Boku is 36 and Folayang is 29 so there's an age difference of seven years. However, age doesn't seem to be much of a deterrent for the grizzled Japanese fighter as evidenced by his quick knockout win over Arnaud Lepont just a few weeks ago at ONE FC 14: War of Nations.

The two fighters share a common opponent from their previous fights and this is Vuyisile Colossa of South Africa. Folayang defeated Colossa via unanimous decision way back in 2010. Boku lost to him by unanimous decision last year. This is not at all a reliable way to gauge how Folayang and Boku stack up against each other but in a way it gives the Team Lakay fighter a bit of an advantage.

Rise of Heroes will be headlined by a match between Bibiano Fernandez and Masakatsu Ueda. It will be the former's first defense of the ONE FC bantamweight title which he won last year when he defeated Soo Chul Kim.

Also fighting in the undercard is Jujeath Nagaowa, a female Cordilleran boxer who will be making her MMA debut against Jeet Toshi (2-1) of India. There's also the chance that Rey Docyogen (also from Team Lakay) will be joining the card.
