The negative effects of AI to creative artists can be life-changing. I know a Baguio-based artist who makes a full-time living drawing the traditional way using pencils and charcoal. With the growing usage of AI apps, her clients have basically disappeared overnight. People are no longer interested in getting portraits and artworks the old school way. They can just use an AI app and a drawing/sketch of their likeness pops up in seconds. No waiting. And mostly free.
Last week, this artist who called Baguio home for the last 7 years moved back to Albay. She said she'll try to revive her art hustle there. She said even if it doesn't work out, at least there's the small family farm to fall back on.
The times are changing.
