Watching the hearings is like watching a documentary on Mexican cartels. Loads of cash being transported in giant suitcases and vans. Bagmen making several trips to transport money because one trip is not enough.
If this happened in other countries, there will be riots in the streets. There will be massive protests calling for heads to roll.
Unfortunately, we are in the Philippines where people are bombarded with corruption stories 24/7. We are the 7/11 of corruption stories. You go to sleep at night outraged with the corruption story you just read. You wake up in the morning to another story of corruption and greed. Different names are involved but the stories are always the same. Public officials stealing public money. The cycle repeats itself day in and day out.
Hindi ka pa nakaka-recover sa inis mo kay Politician A, pumasok corruption story ni Politician B. Then C, then D, then E. It goes on and on.
Corruption has numbed this country to near complete submission.
