"The boar's tusk serves an important adornment for men in the Cordillera region. The Southern Kalinga, Bontok, Kankana-ey, Ifugao, Gaddang, and Bugkalot all use the tusks of the boar as armbands. It is called by many names such as tangkil or tangka in Bontoc, biningal in Ifugao, and takkal among the Gaddang. These names can be traced to the word used to refer to the tusks or fangs of the boar, i.e, pangil (Tagalog) or tanggil (Ilocano) (Maramba1998; Vanoverbergh 1929)."
