Nestor Fongwan, the current Governor of the province of Benguet has filed his certificate of candidacy today (Thursday). He is eyeing a seat in Congress.
Born and raised in the capital town of La Trinidad, Fongwan started his political career in 1988 when he ran and won a seat in the town's council. He became Vice-Mayor in 1992 then served several terms as Mayor from 1995 to 2007. He ran and won as Governor in 2007, a position he occupies until now after being re-elected twice.
