A Letter To Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan By NHCP Chairperson Maria Serena Diokno

The opposition against the proposed construction of a parking lot facility and commercial buildings under and over the Melvin Jones Football Grounds continues to grow. The most recent punch on the proposal is a letter to Baguio City mayor Mauricio Domogan from no other than the chairperson of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines or NHCP.

NHCP chief Maria Serena Diokno penned a brief but direct letter to Domogan asking for confirmation about the plan to build a parking lot facility in one of the remaining open spaces in the city. According to the letter, Diokno was informed of the plan by the Baguio Heritage Foundation which is currently headed by Ronaldo Paraan. You can read the full letter below.

The NHCP is a commission established and tasked with the mission of promoting the Philippines's history and cultural heritage.
