Cordilleran Activist Shot And Killed In Kiangan, Ifugao

William Bugatti of the Cordillera Human Rights Alliance was shot and killed last Tuesday night at around 7 p.m. along the Ifugao Highway in Bolog, Kiangan. He sustained three gunshot wounds. The circumstances around Bugatti's death are still unclear. The perpetrators are still unidentified. Piya Macliing Malayao of the Alliance of Indigenous Peoples of the Philippines made the statement that "Bugatti was on his way home from the office when he was gunned down."

Cristina Palabay who is secretary of the human rights organization Karapatanhas provided Interaksyon with a "copy of a purported list of 28 “target persons” in Tinoc town supposedly drawn up by Charlie Company of the 86th Infantry (Highlander) Battalion, which is based in Barangay Impugong, Tinoc." Bugatti is number 21 on the list. The remarks/assessment accompanying his name says "utak ng NPA" (brains of the NPA).
