Here's what's very interesting about this snake. It was described and officially recognized as a new species only last year (2024). The scientists who studied it published their research work in October of last year in the European Journal of Taxonomy. This species is endemic in Luzon. This means it can only be found here.
King cobras are apex predators. True to their name, their diet is composed primarily of other snakes. That's why they are sometimes called "snake-eaters".
Cobras are not generally aggresive towards humans. They attack people only when they are cornered, in self-defense, or to protect their eggs. You can know they feel threatened when they start hissing, striking, and spreading their hood.
When you encounter one, stay away from it. Don't provoke it. You can call the DENR or native wildlife conservation organizations like NEWT.
