Woman In La Trinidad, Benguet Dies After Being Shot By Her Husband

A man in La Trinidad, Benguet is now languishing in the town's jail after fatally shooting his wife on Monday night at their residence in Stonehill along Kilometer 3 in said town. The man will soon be facing the parricide case that has been lodged against him.

The suspect has been identified as Arnold Morendo Quimoyog. He's 40 years old and he hails from the town of Tadian in Mt. Province. The victim is Marilou Bayate Quimoyog, also 40 years old, and a native of Isabela, Negros Occidental.

Based on investigation by the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, Arnold arrived at their residence in Stonehill under the influence of alcohol. An altercation ensued when Arnold confronted his wife Marilou and accused her of having a love affair with another man. During the heated argument, the the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot his wife in the head at close range.

According to Inspector Radino Belly who heads the town's police force, the incident was witnessed by minor children of the couple and two other people identified by the police as employees in a business that the couple runs.

A 14-year-old son of the couple ran out to seek help when he coincidentally crossed path with a police officer named Anthony Lang-akan. Lang-akan responded to the crime scene and convinced Arnold to surrender. The scene was also processed by officers belonging to the Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO).
