For a long time now, the Salidummay Performing Group and the Dap-ayan Ti Kultura Iti Kordilyera have been in the forefront with regards to the creation and promotion of arts that defend and place Cordilleran culture on a pedestal. Their songs, performances and other works often tackle social issues like self-determination, heritage protection, and liberty for all.

The DKK in particular describes itself as "an alliance of cultural organizations and individuals in the Cordillera." As to what they do, DKK says that it "promotes a nationalist, scientific and mass-oriented arts and culture, inspired by the rich heritage of the Cordillera home and culture; steadfast in the defense of our cultural integrity, land, life and resources; committed to advance the rights and welfare of artists and cultural workers, bind ourselves in the service of the struggle for self-determination and national democracy."
