A 41-year-old woman died while her husband was injured when their house was razed by a fire around midnight on Sunday in Soquib, Besao, Mt. Province. The victim has been identified as Jane Ibayan Mey-ang. Her husband, Noble Ayson Mey-ang, escaped the fire by jumping out the window on the second floor of their house. He survived but suffered a few head and back injuries and burns in his hands. He was rushed for treatment at the Besao District Hospital located in Kin-iway.
According to the police, the fire occurred around midnight. Jane and Noble were sleeping when fire and smoke engulfed the house. Noble crawled on the floor to reach the window then jumped out. Unfortunately, Jane wasn't able to do the same.
It's still unknown what caused the fire. According to relatives of the couple, burial for Jane will be held tomorrow (Tuesday). [Sources: Bombo Radyo Baguio, Facebook]
