PNP and COMELEC Calls For Public Adherence Towards Orderly SK Elections

To ensure peaceful and orderly Special Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections on April 25, 2015, the Philippine National Police (PNP) together with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) have started to disseminate information including Calendar of Activities regarding the said election.

It can be remembered that the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), through its Resolution No. 9930 postponed the conduct of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) from February 21, 2015. However the Special SK Elections is set to resume on April 25, 2015.

To help the PNP and COMELEC to having neat elections, the two government organizations wish to keep the public in the know through this Calendar of events.

March 26, 2015 to May 10, 2015 – Election Period
April 11, 2015, April 13, 2015 & April 14, 2015 – Filing of Certificates of Candidacy
April 25, 2015 – Election Day
April 25, 2015 – Counting & canvassing of Votes and Proclamation of Winning Candidates
April 26, 2015 - Filing of Statements of Contributions and Expenditures

Moreover, through COMELEC Resolution No 9939 as amended, the PNP also reminds all its personnel the following prohibited acts during the election period:
- Transfer of detail of officers and employees in the civil service including PNP personnel without clearance from the COMELEC
- Appointment of hiring of new employees
- Absolute prohibition without exemption on promotions or giving of salary increases, remuneration or privileges - Creation and filing up of new positions

The PNP further advises the public on the COMELEC Gun Ban once the election period starts to ensure safety and public order.

As always, the PNP continues to ask the public’s support and cooperation to follow the ordinance during the special SK Elections as well as provide relevant and timely information and other unscrupulous activities through social media or through PNP hotline.
