Update On Road Accident That Happened Along Halsema Highway In Atok, Benguet

Around 7:30 in the morning of December 3, a white mini dump truck fell off a 60-meter ravine along Kilometer 36 of the Halsema Highway in barangay Topdac in Atok, Benguet. On the wheel of the truck is Vidal Aquino Baldino, a 26-year-old farmer who hails from Kabayan, Benguet and a resident of La Trinidad.

Baldino was the only person aboard the vehicle. The truck veered and fell off the ravine due to a mechanical error.

Responding personnel from the Atok MPS led by PSI Cesar Mallong, BFP and Atok District Hospital retrieved and rescued Baldino. He was then rushed and brought to the Benguet General Hospital (BGH) in La Trinidad where he is currently being treated.

Baldino is reportedly in a stable condition. He incurred a fractured leg and other injuries. In light of what happened, the authorities are calling on all motorists driving through Halsema Highway to be extra careful.

If you are going to drive through Halsema, make sure that the person on the wheel is familiar with the terrain. And before you embark on the journey, make sure that your vehicle is in top condition.
