Philippine Serpent Eagle Rescued in Trancoville, Baguio City

This is a Philippine serpent eagle (Spilornis holospilus) that was rescued by the Baguio City police in Trancoville. They turned over the bird to the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO). 

This raptor is endemic to the Philippines. With wide-ranging distribution, they often make their way into urban areas like Baguio City. 

As to its conservation status, the species is classified by the IUCN as being of Least Concern. However, their population is declining mainly due to habitat loss, hunting, and poaching.
