"The sipattal, sipatal, or sipatar is a distinct adornment of the Isneg of the province of Apayao. It is worn on special occasions by men, women, and children except when in mourning. It is worn mostly as a breast adornment hanging from the neck, and consists of the sipatar, collar made of black, blue, red, and/or yellow beads, and the bising, pendant made of a triangular mother of pearl. Aside from its aesthetic value, it serves to indicate high social status."
